Stuarts were contracted to design and construct a steel fibre only reinforced, suspended floor slab for Simons Construction Limited in early 2006.

Designed by Capita on Stuarts behalf, a 270mm thick floor slab reinforced with a designed dosage of Trefil Arbed Tabix 1/60+ steel fibres incorporated into the concrete mix, was installed with Stuarts own Steel Crete dry shake applied at a rate of 5kg/m² to act as a fibre suppressant.

In total approximately 34,000m² was constructed in five weeks on site in conjunction with one of our Somero laser screed machines to a tolerance of FM2, as defined in TR34 (2003), ± 15mm from datum.

Upon completion, Stuarts efforts were recognised by the Main Contractor by the award of the Groundworker of the Year honour at their annual suppliers day.
