Lafarge extensia

In conjunction with our partners at Lafarge Readymix, Stuarts have helped launch Extensia in 2007 as the sole supplier of the material in the UK market.

A sustainable alternative to steel mesh and steel fibre floors, Extensia offers high compressive and flexural strength, reduced shrinkage and cracking, and improved performance without the need for any reinforcement within the floor slab section.

Extensia also brings big environmental benefits - as demonstrated by an independent life cycle assessment carried out by Ecobilian, part of PricewaterhouseCoopers Sustainable Business Solutions. According to their findings, Extensia can achieve up to 20% reduction in CO2 emissions, up to 46% reduction in coal consumption, up to 16% reduction in oil consumption, and up to 85% reduction in waste production - all compared with traditional concrete using either steel mesh or steel fibre reinforcement
